I am 24 hours away from ending 2016 in the present destination of the year, Iceland. I am far from civilization, in complete silence, sipping a delicious red, and awaiting the hopeful Northern Lights to appear. As I take a moment to reflect on the present year that has pasted so quickly, I am to enter the New Year focused and appreciative of the year to come…2017.
2016 was a year of lessons, growth, an abundances of experiences, and true self-awareness. There were ups and there were downs, though in every moment—good or bad—I learned something, whether it be about myself or others.
I choose to look at what I gained from every experience, the positive impact each experience had on my life. It is said that we grow most in our challenges, and I personally believe this to be true. We break through and evolve into where we are destined to be.
I am eternally thankful for the people I’ve met—those I’ve gotten to know, and those who remain in my life today. We would always like to change certain things, retake a moment, or meet someone at a better time, though in reality, everything is timed exactly as it should be.
I end this year reflecting on gratitude. Being aware, humbled, present, and in good spirits. Not everything is perfect, but it never has to be. Things are perfectly imperfect, and there is beauty in that.
As I enter the New Year, I choose to leave behind my mistakes, my disappointments, and my worries. That way, I may enter this New Year refreshed, renewed, thankful, full of life, and excited to take on what life has in store for me. I am present…right here, right now and excited for what every moment brings.
May 2017 bring new blessings, new experiences, new friendships, new connections, and continued growth. Thank you, 2016, but I’m ready to say goodbye and good blessings to you.
2017 I welcome you with open arms.
